Ingredients

At a glance
Porridge
Serves
6-8
  • 1 c sago (tapioca pearls)
  • 1 2/3 c water
  • 6 c milk
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 cloves (optional)
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 c sugar

Methods/steps

  1. In a medium bowl, soak the sago in the water for 15-20 min (the sago will increase in size and the water will be absorbed---drain any excess water)
  2. In a large pot, bring milk and sago to a boil over med heat
  3. Reduce heat to a med-low and continue stirring to avoid sago burning
  4. Add remaining ingredients (nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, sugar)and stir
  5. Continue boiling until thickened or tapioca pearls are cooked

Additional Tips

*if porridge gets too thick, just add more milk to get the consistency that you like.

I love SAGO! I often make it to satisfy my taste buds when I'm craving something "not so sweet" but satisfying and healthy! It's a great tummy warmer for the Canadian winters!
