Pressure Cooked Dahl

Description

Dahl is a great side dish that can be served with rice, curries, spinach, or fried fish.

10 cups
  • 13 cloves of garlic
  • 1 medium onion
  • 3-5 wri wri pepper (Optional)
  • 11/2 c washed dahl
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp ground geera
  • 1/8 tsp tumeric
  • 12 cups water

Methods/steps

  1. Grind the garlic, onion & pepper and set aside
  2. heat oil on medium high
  3. add onion, garlic and pepper to the oil and fry for 1 min
  4. reduce heat to medium-low
  5. add drained dahl, curry powder, jeera, tumeric, black pepper and continue stirring for 2 - 3 mins
  6. Add water, increase heat and bring to a boil
  7. pressure cook for 20 mins on medium -high heat
