15 - 20 rolls
Pastry:
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup low-fat margarine
1/2 cup ice-water
Filling:
3/4 cup grated low-fat cheddar cheese
1 tsp. dry mustard
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce
1 egg, beaten
Methods/steps
- Mix flour and salt, cut in margarine and blend until mixture resembles meal.
- Add ice water, a little at a time, until mixture is moist enough to form a firm dough. Divide dough into 15-20 balls
- Combine grated cheese, mustard, salt, pepper and hot pepper sauce.
- Flatten balls into circles; place1 tbsp. (15 ml) of cheese mixture on each circle and fold dough over to make a roll.
- Brush rolls with beaten egg, place on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350F (180C) for about 20 min.
